Why Gladys'

Stewarding a local landmark with fresh purpose.

The Russell family, owners of Gladys' Restaurant

For the Russells, owning Gladys' is about more than running a restaurant. It is about honoring a place that has been part of Okeechobee since 1951 and making sure it still feels like the kind of diner where locals are known, travelers are welcomed, and every table matters.

Garr Russell is a faith-driven entrepreneur, husband, father, author, speaker, and founder of Fireside RV Rental. His work has centered on building with purpose, leading through faith, and helping people turn setbacks into something useful. At Gladys', that same heart shows up in a very practical way: good food, steady service, and a place where people can gather.

The Russells believe a diner can be more than a stop for breakfast or lunch. It can be a small-town meeting place, a familiar booth, a warm cup of coffee, and a reminder that hospitality still matters.

Faith

Gladys' is operated with gratitude, humility, and a desire to serve people well.
